Installation of the first heat pumps in Neutraubling

Last summer, homeowners had the opportunity to join a community of interest in order to obtain price advantages when switching to heat pumps. The aim was to provide guidance for interested residents, regardless of what their individual decision ultimately would be. To this end, quotes were obtained from local and regional heating installation companies – openly, transparently and comparably.

The first heat pumps from the bundling campaign in Neutraubling have now been installed, with more to follow after the heating season. This is a great milestone for the EU LIFE Street HP Reno project. The project demonstrates very clearly how the large-scale rollout of heat pumps can be supported through local education and coordinated group procurement – to the benefit of all involved.

In the end, the regional branch of 1KOMMA5° in Deggendorf was selected as the implementation partner. Over 30 on-site consultations took place, and an individual quote was prepared for each building.

The project was also special from the perspective of the executing company:

It’s not every day that you get asked to submit a quote for heat pumps on this scale. After a few rounds of consultation and fine-tuning, we were selected as the final partner with the best overall rating. We visited more than 30 participants in person and prepared a quote tailored to each of their buildings. For us at 1KOMMA5° DEGGENDORF, this project lived up to all our expectations. We would like to commend ShiftUp for their preparatory work on this pilot project and, of course, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our customers who placed their trust in us.

The municipality also draws a positive conclusion:

The entire organisation of the heating replacement was handled by ShiftUp. The experts put together complete packages for the companies’ enquiries to ensure that only companies that could offer a comprehensive service with good support would apply for the project. As ShiftUp reviewed, classified and commented on the offers in terms of both price and overall performance, the participants had a good insight into the selection process of the implementing company. The fact that a complete service package was offered, including customer support, subsidy services and the coordination of the various tradesmen – including foundation and electrical work, removal and disposal of the old technology – meant that the heating system replacement involved very little effort.

Elisabeth Sterr (Climate Protection Manager), Stadt Neutraubling

The positive feedback from participants is particularly encouraging. A key objective was to keep the organisational effort for households as low as possible – from the offer phase to implementation.

We only had to organise minor plastering and painting work ourselves.

The system was fully operational within one week of installation.

Many processes ran in parallel in the background – from connecting the electricity supply and removing the gas meter to submitting funding applications.

For us, the pilot project confirms one thing above all else: clear processes, transparency and close support for participants are crucial for such initiatives to work.

A big thank you to everyone involved, especially the households in Neutraubling who took this step.
